Do you know the feelings of excitement and euphoria you get after a particularly positive youth group meeting, bible study session, or Sunday morning sermon?
You leave church feeling lifted and ready to share the gospel with everyone you meet. But, then you walk into school the next day and that spark suddenly fizzles out because you’re unsure how to share the news of Jesus with your friends without making them uncomfortable, annoyed, or angry.
It’s ok to be nervous about discussing your faith with school friends and peers. Luckily, there are ways to express and show His amazing love through small gestures and actions. If you’re looking for positive, friendly ways to spread His word without alienating your friends, try these 5 tips:
Keep a bible in your backpack, at your school desk, or in your locker to use as a conversation starter. Friends might ask what you’re reading or why you keep a bible with you at school, giving you the perfect opportunity to share your faith through uplifting bible verses.
Gospel tracts are small slips of paper with His message printed. Most churches provide them, but if yours doesn’t, you can always search online for them to print and cut out yourself. These gospel tracts can be included in candy during Halloween season, with valentine’s cards, or in holiday gifts. You can even do random acts of kindness around school and leave the tracts behind.
You don’t have to ask your table of friends to hold hands or even join in your prayer. But, it’s possible to spark interest in your friends when you quietly close your eyes and say a small prayer before you take your meals.
Holidays, events, and special occasions are great times to subtly and positively spread the gospel. Choose greeting cards with kind bible verses. This is an easy (and unassuming) way to share your faith during the holidays. If friends choose to discuss the verse with you, extend an invitation to your church’s next Sunday service.
Social media can be a great platform for sharing your beliefs. Consider sharing testimony, church times, youth group trips, bible verses, and more. What’s great about this method is that it gives you time to think of heartfelt, positive responses when a friend comments on a post.
The last one can be especially helpful in spreading the gospel when you post pictures from your mission trips or church events. Friends will see the fun you’re having and the good you’re doing and be compelled to comment, ask questions, or maybe even join your youth group to learn how they can get involved in events and mission trips!
And, if you’re in search of a mission trip or church event that’s guaranteed to inspire wonderful photos, memories, and good will, consider attending Jesus Global Youth Day 2019 in Manila, Philippines.
