We’ve conveniently arranged this event into three days of different speakers, leaders, and worship bands. Your group can buy one-, two-, or three-day passes for the event to attend any days at your convenience.
No. Pastor conferences are optional. Pastors may register to either conference for an extra fee.
While we encourage all leaders to attend Jesus Global Youth Day, attendance isn’t mandatory (nor included in your conference registration).
No. Our partner, TBN, will gather footage of the 3-day event and broadcast the highlights during a special 2-hour broadcast.
Registration for Jesus Global Youth Day is now open.
Some hostels and most hotels have internet access, and more and more cafes and retailers are providing Wi-Fi for their customers. It is not always free, however.
We recommend using apps like Skype, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger. Keep in mind that data charges will apply if the phone is not connected to Wi-Fi.
Most cell phones work in the Philippines. Call your phone company for the details of whether your particular phone is set up to work there, and what an international plan will cost you.
We advise each church group to set up an email list or a Facebook group to provide quick updates to parents back home.
It is recommended to be current on routine vaccinations. The CDC and WHO recommend the following vaccines for Philippines: typhoid, Japanese encephalitis, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, rabies, measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) and influenza.
We do not provide medical insurance. Please note that travelers are required to have proof of International medical insurance coverage. If your insurance is not international, please contact us and we can refer you to an organization that can supply it for the period you are overseas.
You should check with your insurance company to see if and under what terms you have coverage in the Philippines. If you do not have coverage, you can buy travelers’ medical insurance online. We can also refer you to an organization that can supply it for the period you are overseas.
If you are bringing prescription medication with you to Jesus Global Youth Day, you should bring the medications in their original bottles. If you are taking a critical medication, you should try to bring a backup prescription order from your doctor in English just in case you lose your medication.
It is a good idea for someone in the group to have a first aid kit containing diarrhea and constipation medication, as well as medications for cold and flu. Airborne or Emergen-C may be helpful supplements for travel as well. It is also important to prepare your body in advance for the demands of the event by eating healthfully, exercising, keeping hydrated, and getting plenty of sleep during the weeks leading up to your trip.
Mosquito repellent is relatively necessary in the city, and very necessary when going outside the city, especially when visiting the rainforest areas. Stronger repellent containing DEET is recommended.
The Philippines uses various outlet types from around the world. When booking your hotel, we advise asking if power plug adapters are needed. Also, electricity in Philippines is 220 Volts, alternating at 60 cycles per second. If you travel to Philippines with a device that does not accept 220 Volts at 60 Hertz, you will need a voltage converter. Using equipment at the wrong voltage is a sure way of destroying them.
The Philippines is a well-developed country. Everything you need will be available there, including toiletries and clothing.
A laundry facility is almost always available in hotels—a sink and your two hands. (Hand washing clothing may not be feasible in simple accommodations.) A good rule is to wash one or two things per night and let them hang to dry. If you are in need of a washer and dryer, availability varies by location. Laundromats/laundry services are also everywhere.
You will be able to leave your belongings at your lodging during the day and during the event. But, remember, never leave anything behind that you cannot bear to lose.
Our Jesus Global Youth Day Youth organizer will email your group leader with a suggested packing list before the event.
The Philippine Peso(₱)(PHP) is the official currency and is typically the only currency recognized for normal transactions.
Money changers are common in the Philippines, especially in large cities and at the airport.
Ask yourself: How many meals will I need to buy? (Keep in mind that most hotels provide breakfast depending on the hotel package you choose.) The amount needed will vary by tastes and spending habits, but roughly $500 for the basic itinerary should be more than enough.
